to share space

This early morning,
I danced to Mumford & Sons
in the big-ass basement of my best friends’ house
while one best friend slept two floors above
and the other played Destiny 2
one room over.

While I am reconnecting
with my passion for space,
I am also very clear:

Two years is
way too much temporal space
to be more than a couple rooms removed
in physical space
from my best friends–
and other dear friends,
such as those who visited last night,
with whom I can always
pick up
exactly
where I
left
off.

To share space
with these people–
I could not have a better reminder that
the thing that makes quiet, solo space so precious
is knowing that it is
finite, only
(when it’s time)
a few
steps away
from being ended
with one
big-ass
hug.
